Biography

Born in London, John H Howard graduated from Camberwell School of Art in 1961 with a BA in Fine Arts (Painting). He joined the artist co-op at St. Katherines Dock, later at Stepney Green. Following the demolition of the studios in London, he moved to New York and in 1985, although still painting, he began illustrating. In this field he has been widely published and won many awards including eight gold, silver and bronze medals from the NY and LA Society of Illustrators. His work is in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, The Smithsonian and the MTA. He was runner-up for the MTA mural at the 42nd Street Station in New York. Most recently, he has been on the faculties of Pratt and Parsons University. For the past twelve years, he has been represented in NY by Kim Foster Gallery.
